What is so special about this Shea Butter?
The search for the best ingredients and a personal contact lead i+m to the EPOPA (Export Promotion of Organic Products from Africa) shea butter Project in Uganda.
Uganda is the home of shea trees which deliver an exceptionally smooth shea butter. The knowledge of the traditional processing methods has its origin since generations in Uganda: Women from the region collect the shea nuts, dry them in the sun and manually grind and decant them. In contrast to the shea butter processed in factories, in this way all the important active ingredients remain.
How does Fair trade work? i+m pays a fair price to EPOPA who directly tranfers the money to the Ugandan women who manually produce the shea butter. By paying reliable and competitive prices i+m supports the producing families and enables them to improve their quality of live and to maintain their traditional way of working and living at the same time. Through personal contact i+m fastly realized that the extra money really reaches the Ugandan women. This strong cooperations allows a valuble transfer of knowledge and experience. EPOPA (Export Promotion of Organic Products from Africa) belongs to Sida, which is the Swedish central office for international Cooperation.
